In addition to our diverse range of hotel services, you can also train with your furry friend at Hotel Almfrieden, either indoors in the dog training room or outdoors in the dog agility park.
1. Alpine Indoor Dog Training Room
Come on in and give it a try!
Dear four-legged friends, this is where your little adventure in the mountains begins: balancing over gnarled roots, sniffing out new paths between rocks and learning how to treat cows with respect. In this natural environment, you will gain your first alpine experiences – playfully, safely and with all your senses.
Welcome to the 1st Alpine Indoor Dog Training Room by Markus. Drawing on his many years of experience, our expert hiking guide Markus Pilz has created an adventure area where people and dogs can enjoy alpine experiences as a training area.
The dog training room combines adventure, play and fun with training effects, promoting the behaviour and well-being of four-legged friends in the alpine pasture and mountain region.
In the 1st Alpine Indoor Dog Training Room, dogs can experience:
- contact with grazing cows,
- walking over pasture grates,
- climbing on alpine wooden walkways,
- overcoming root paths,
- seesawing,
- running down alpine hiking trails,
- running over scree and stone, and
- behaviour on alpine pastures and meadows.
Let your nose guide you, your paws discover new things and your courage grow. We wish you curious steps, joyful exploration and many wonderful moments together – have fun on your journey through the Ramsau alpine pastures and mountain region!
Training ideas
In the mountains, it is important that not only you are sure-footed, but your dog is too. There are plenty of speed courses. In our Alpine training room, your dog's coordination and precise climbing skills are practised, which is important in the mountains. Practise calm and confident behaviour on or off the leash. Our cow simulator prepares you for the alpine pastures – dogs should not bark at cows. However, never walk through herds of cows with calves, but always turn around, no matter how difficult it may be!
Sniffing game:
With our sniffing cans and sniffing board, your dog will learn to distinguish or find smells in a playful way. There is also a drinking fountain for you and your dog to quench your thirst. You can find out more tips on hiking with dogs on the guided hikes with Markus.
Outdoor Agility Park
To ensure your dog can really let off steam during your holiday, we have built a 600 m² agility play park with a wooden fence, seesaw, tunnel, jumping obstacles, jumping ring and bench in front of the hotel.
See for yourself how much fun this dog sport can be. In addition to coordination, agility and speed, you will also train communication with your dog.
